Professor Lowe earned his Bachelors and Masters of Accountancy degrees from Brigham Young University and his Ph.D. from Arizona State University (ASU). He is presently a professor at ASU. Dr. Lowe’s research interests include auditor decision making and legal liability issues. His research has also focused on independence issues for CPA firms that perform consulting and internal audit outsourcing for their audit clients. These and other research efforts have been beneficial to the National Association of State Boards of Accounting, the SEC., as well as other organizations.
He has published in such journals as the Accounting Review, Accounting Organizations and Society, Contemporary Accounting Research, Decision Sciences, Auditing: A Journal of Practice and Theory, Behavioral Research in Accounting, Accounting Horizons, International Journal of Auditing, Journal of Accounting and Public Policy, Journal of Economic Psychology, as well as other publications. Dr. Lowe is currently on the Editorial board for Advances in Accounting, Behavioral Research in Accounting, and Auditing: A Journal of Practice & Theory and has served a reviewer for several high-quality journals and conferences.
Dr. Lowe has received research grants from the KPMG Peat Marwick Foundation's Research Opportunities in Auditing Program, the Ernst and Young Research Foundation, and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
